Netflix recently announced that The Witcher had been renewed for a fourth season. While this is good news for Witcher fans, Netflix also announced Henry Cavill won't return in the fourth season. Instead, the torch will be passed down to Aussie Liam Hemsworth as the new Geralt of Rivia.
In an official statement from The Witcher twitter;
It's Official: The Witcher is returning for season 4, and Henry Cavill will be handling his swords to Liam Hemsworth as the new Geralt of Rivia after Season 3. Welcome to the Witcher family @LiamHemsworth!
Henry Cavill also posted in a statement on his instagram; My Journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf
The reason behind Cavill's depature hasn't been officially confirmed yet, but recently he returned to the role of Superman. One could speculate one of the reasons why he left could be because of scheduling conflicts, but down the line I'm sure we'll find out exactly why.
