Trivia games are among the most challenging games to discuss. Game Shows on TV are everywhere, and every channel has at least two quiz shows. Jeopardy Daily is the latest video game iteration of Merv Griffin's long-running American game show 'Jeopardy.' First airing in 1964, 'Jeopardy' has been the subject of a lot of video game adaptations over the years. If you are familiar with the show, Jeopardy Daily is a decent enough game to fill that void if you have an Apple Arcade subscription. The questions are vast, and new ones emerge daily, giving the game a good dose of longevity. At the end of the day, this is just another trivia game, but if you're a fan of quizzes and game shows, like me, Jeopardy Daily is worth a look.

If you are unfamiliar with the show, Jeopardy is a trivia show where you have to answer questions in a particular category. What makes the show interesting is that you have to give the answers in the form of a question; for example, "What is a pineapple?" or "What is the Great Wall of China?" It's a unique show for that reason, and the fanbase is absolutely massive. I have been watching 'Jeopardy' on Australian TV for a long time, so the gameplay of Jeopardy Daily on Apple Arcade felt second nature.

There are a few different modes to play with in Jeopardy Daily for Apple Arcade. The first mode is 'Boards,' which is the one most similar to the show. You have three different subjects, and each one has five questions to answer. The first question is worth $200, and the prize increases by $200 for each subsequent question. At the end of the mode, you get the Daily Double question, where you can gamble whatever money you have and potentially earn or lose that money on the final question. 'Boards' mode is the one that comes the closest to the classic format of 'Jeopardy,' and the questions are varied and never repeat, like other games such as Scene It and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

The second game mode in Jeopardy Daily on Apple Arcade is 'Palettes.' The questions are similar to 'Boards,' but you have to connect the correct answers to the questions. There are five questions that all fall into one category, and each question corresponds to a colour. You must select the proper colour for each answer that corresponds to the question. After each guess, you will get a prompt letting you know how many questions you got correct and how many you got wrong. You have three attempts to answer the five questions correctly. This mode is a fun idea, and it does feel similar to the classic format, but it lacks the variety of 'Boards', and I found it tiring quickly.

The third primary mode in Jeopardy Daily on Apple Arcade is 'Sprint.' This mode is a quick-fire round of singular questions, where you must answer as many as you can correctly before the time runs out. Every question is in a different category, and the last one really encourages quick thinking and challenges your general knowledge. I did like this mode a lot more than 'Palettes.'

The biggest problem with Jeopardy Daily on Apple Arcade is the fact that you can only play one game of 'Boards' per day. The mode is by far the best in the game, and it's the one that feels the most like a proper game of 'Jeopardy.' The fact that the mode is locked out daily is immensely disappointing, and it really sucks a lot of the replayability of the game. You do have the other two modes to play with, but they are not as fun, and they stray a little too far from the idea of the game show.

Jeopardy! Daily Apple Arcade Review: Verdict

Jeopardy Daily on Apple Arcade is a decent trivia game that could have delivered more. There are three different modes to play with, but you can only play the best mode once a day. I do not understand why the developers chose this, and it has made me less inclined to commit to the game, despite the convenience of having it on my iPhone. I did enjoy Jeopardy Daily, however, despite the disappointing progression.
