My favourite mouse for a while now has been the wired Logitech G502, while it is wired, it looks and feels excellent and has a bunch of features that improve my gaming experience. So when I was offered the chance to level this up even further with the G502 X Lightspeed mouse, I jumped at it to see if/how the wireless version improves over the wired version. The wired version promises to retain the same level of precision and comfort without the confines of a wired mouse, so lets have an in depth look and see if it lives up to its promise.
The G502 X Lightspeed maintains its signature design that made its previous versions so popular. I personally love the way it looks, I think it's truly one of the best looking mice on the market. It's a good size and shape in your hand meaning that your hands wont fatigue even during the longest gaming sessions. It's relatively light weight although not as lightweight as the Logitech G Pro Superlight that I reviewed earlier in the year which is featherweight compared to most mice I've reviewed. The button placement is intuitive and leaves the mouse both useful and clutter free.
A stand out feature of the G502 range is its performance and the G502 X Lightspeed is no different. Using Logitech's high precision HERO sensor these mice deliver flawless accuracy and responsiveness across the board. Whatever you're doing, whether it be fast paced FPS battles or needing to be extremely precise in your movement in platormers, the G502 X Lightspeed moves with absolute precision to give you the competitive edge in every game.
Like most gaming mice these days the G502 X Lightspeed has a customisable DPI setting so you can fine tune the movement speed to suit yourself. Logitech's LIGHTSPEED technology is only really noticeable in its mice. They boast it for all their wireless products and to be honest I usually don't notice any perceivable difference between their competitors in terms of wireless performance. However the mice are where you feel it. As I mentioned earlier, the movement feels very snappy and there's a small but noticeable increase in responsiveness over other mice on the market.
Aside from the excellent performance the G502 X Lightspeed boasts some very cool features that will enhance your gaming experience. It has 13 programmable buttons to be fine tuned for your specific needs. 5 onboard memory profiles that you can preset to suit specific games or uses and the low friction PTFE feet allow for truly friction free movement.
Battery life is pretty exceptional too. The mouse is advertised at 140 hours battery life. However, I found this to be much higher in reality. In fact after a little digging, I found on the Logitech website that it is in fact 140 hrs constant motion, which translates to much more in reality. This has lasted my entire review period and I am still nowhere near running out.
The G502 X Lightspeed features customizable RGB lighting allowing you to personalise the look of your mouse to match your setup or mood. With the G Hub software you can create custom lighting effects and sync them across your other Logitech devices.
Overall the Logitech G502 X Lightspeed offers a winning combination of performance, comfort and all the features you want in a gaming mouse without the gimmicks. Its ergonomic design, precision sensor and lag free wireless connectivity set it apart from the competition providing an unrivalled gaming experience and makes it a stand out choice for gamers of all skill and experience levels. Whether you're a casual gamer or a competitive esports player, the G502 X Lightspeed will elevate your gaming to new heights.
