PAX AUS 2025 - What To Expect

Can you believe we're just a few weeks away from PAX AUS 2025!? Soon enough we'll be gearing up for The Game Awards, and then 2026 - the year of GTA 6.
But we're getting too far ahead ourselves. In the meantime, with the 12th edition of PAX AUS looming around the corner, there's much to do, see and play. If you haven't already, there are still badges available for Friday and Sunday at the time of writing this article. Saturday and 3-Day Badges sold out fairly quickly, just as expected.
As usual PAX AUS 2025 will be held at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre from Friday October 10th, until Sunday October 12th 2025.
Show Dates & Hours are as follows:
Friday October 10th : 10:00AM - 11:00PM
Saturday October 11th: 10:00AM - 11:00PM
Sunday October 12th: 10:00AM - 6:00PM
Expo Halls: 10:00AM until 6:00PM
Guests
So, where do we even begin? Let's start with guests. PAX AUS will be yet again packed full of guests from content creators, to game designers.
Notably, this years storytime guest is none other than Gavin Verhey, aka the Principal Magic: The Gathering Designer at Wizards of the Coast.
Some guests this year also includes;
Voice actress Amelia Tyler (Baldur's Gate III, Hades II)
Creative Lead Lis Moberly (Avowed, We Went Back)
Content Creators Good Games Morley (Aaron, Ricardo, Riley and Violet)
Studio Design Director, Joshua Sawyer (Fallout, Pentiment).

Schedule - What's Going On?
Board games, free play, retro consoles, cosplay and tournaments. On this years schedule, there's just about something for everyone. Whether its meeting new friends, showcasing your skills or watching your faves speak live, these categories include;
Tabletop Freeplay - Battle it out on a campaign of Dungeons & Dragons, or learn a new game - the tabletop freeplay has a variety of games to dive into!
Charity Org - Sing along to Sea Shanties or join in on an unhinged Shrek & memes themed game show. Go on, release your inner Shrek!
Classic Console - Play the likes of Doom 2, Mortal Kombat II, Pinball, Vintage Pinball plus more!
Collaboratory - Chat with designers & play test their games! Explore a range of games set in different locations. Could be a WEREhouse, or in a Courtroom mystery.
Community Meetups - Meetup with fellow gaming friends from Marvels Rivals, The Sims or meet new people at the ANZ Creators meetup. Many communities to choose from!
Console Freeplay - Fancy jumping into a 6v6 Halo match? Or how about showing off your inner Bear in a 2v2 Overcooked 2 sesh? Plenty of games to choose from as well. Release your inner gamer!
Cosplay - Paint me like one of your cosplayers! Fallout, Team Fortress 2 and League of Legends just to name a few.
Handheld Lounge - Relax with Stardew Valley or slay your fellow gamers in Super Smash Bros.
Intel PC Freeplay - Geoguessr, Valorant, Fall Guys , Counter Strike 2 - the list goes on. Go on, go play!
Kirrip Wilam - Check out character design workshops, or drop in, draw and colour!
Meet and Greet - Check out if your favourite guest is doing a meet and greet!
Omegathon - Footy Bash, Ricochet Rodeo, Golf with your friends, Flip 7 and Cairn
PAX Arena - Check out what Tabletops get up to after dark.
PAX Together - Learn to play D&D and meet all different kinds of awesome people from various communities.
Panels - So many Panels. From trivias to learning about representation in gaming, there's a panel for just about everyone.
Performer - JUST DANCE
Pin Trading - Meet your fellow pinnypals! Trade, meet up and make a life time of memories. Ooh, pinnypal friends!
Speedrunning - A Shrek 2 speedrun. Oh, and if that wasn't a enough there's a bunch more games too.
Storytime - Catch this years Storytime Speaker Gavin Verhey on the Friday. Good way to start the weekend!
Tournaments - Well go on, don't be afraid! Out Kickflip your opponents in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4, or obliterate your enemies with a banana peel in Mario Kart. Like all these categories above, there's quite a few games to choose from, so go check it out.

This year the Expo Hall is serving up an array of diverse talented developers, publishers, retailers, and more from all over the gaming industry. From indie to major studios, you'll get hands on with demos from upcoming games, discovering the latest gaming hardware, and meeting new people in the gaming industry.
