As it stands, Astro Bot, a 3D platformer game developed by Team Asobi, is arguably the most highly-received video game of 2024. It is the No. 1 game of the year on both Metacritic and OpenCritic. I reviewed Astro Bot and agree with the reception; the game is one of the best 3D platformers I have ever played. Sony's September State of Play event revealed new content for Astro Bot, and now we have more information about the DLCs, what they will consist of, and when they will be released.
The head of Team Asobi, Nicolas Doucet, announced on the PlayStation Blog that Astro Bot DLC will be released over five weeks. A new speed run level will be added to the base game each week, offering a unique challenge to test the player's platforming skills. The first level, ‘Building Speed,’ is available now and is themed like the construction site levels of the game. With the help of the delightful Barkster, you will have to traverse and boost your way through the level as fast as possible. Along the way, you will dodge cranes, smash through crates, speed through a refreshing car wash, and rescue the PlayStation-themed bots. The game will add your finished time to a worldwide leaderboard, and you will see how your efforts fare against others. Each new level will have two new themed bots to rescue. Sony already announced the appearance of Eve from Stellar Blade and the Helldivers from Helldivers, but there will be many more for you to discover.
‘Building Speed’ is the first of five DLCs for Astro Bot. We do not have any more information on the themed bots or the style of each level. However, we do have the names and the release schedule of each DLC:
Building Speed: October 18th.
Let it Slide: October 25th.
Spring Loaded Run: November 1st.
Helium Heights: November 8th.
Rising Heat: November 15th.
As a massive fan of Astro Bot, I am beyond excited for all these new levels. I am also curious about which PlayStation characters will come to the game. I would love to hear your thoughts and speculations about the upcoming DLCs. Let us know in the comments below. Your insights are always appreciated and make our community stronger.
