KINGDOM HEARTS IV RELEASING IN LATE 2027

During D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event 2026, SQUARE ENIX and Disney & Pixar Games have confirmed that KINGDOM HEARTS IV is targeting a late 2027 release, alongside the debut of a new trailer during the Disney Entertainment Showcase.
The trailer gave fans their first look at a new world inspired by Disney and Pixar’s Coco, adding another Pixar property to the ever-growing list of worlds being brought into the KINGDOM HEARTS universe.
There was also a major surprise announcement, with Disney revealing that an original Kingdom Hearts anime series is currently in development for Disney Channel and Disney+. The project, currently using the working title Kingdom Hearts, is being developed in collaboration with KINGDOM HEARTS creator Tetsuya Nomura and the creative team at SQUARE ENIX.
The announcements formed part of a special DEEP DIVE into KINGDOM HEARTS panel held at D23 to celebrate 25 years of the franchise. The panel looked back at how KINGDOM HEARTS brought together Disney, Pixar and SQUARE ENIX, while featuring appearances and insights from members of the development team and voice cast. The event was also livestreamed worldwide and included an extended version of the new KINGDOM HEARTS IV trailer.
The game itself continues Sora's story as he finds himself in Quadratum, the mysterious city introduced in the previous game. With the Heartless once again causing trouble, Sora will travel between a range of new Disney and Pixar-inspired worlds, meeting familiar characters along the way while discovering new abilities.
The latest trailer also confirmed the return of two of Sora's most recognisable companions, Donald Duck and Goofy. Interestingly, players will also get the opportunity to take control of Mickey, Donald and Goofy as they investigate what has happened to Sora and try to track down his whereabouts.
KINGDOM HEARTS IV is currently scheduled to launch in late 2027 on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game is also available to wishlist now.
