Nanoleaf Introduces Smart Air Circulator Fan to Keep Australian Homes Cool, Comfortable and Connected

As we head into another Australian summer, keeping the house comfortable without having fans running flat out all day becomes increasingly important. Nanoleaf is looking to offer another option with the announcement of its new Smart Air Circulator Fan, combining smart home connectivity, cordless operation and whole-room air circulation in a compact design.

While traditional pedestal fans are generally designed to push air in one direction, Nanoleaf's new offering takes a slightly different approach. It's designed to keep air moving around an entire room, helping create a more consistent airflow rather than simply directing a breeze towards whoever happens to be sitting in front of it.

With automatic horizontal and vertical oscillation, nine adjustable fan speeds and four operating modes, the Smart Air Circulator Fan looks to be a versatile addition to bedrooms, living rooms, home offices and even sheltered outdoor spaces.

Designed to Move Air Around the Entire Room

One of the key features of the Nanoleaf Smart Air Circulator Fan is its ability to distribute airflow across a much wider area than a conventional fan. It offers automatic horizontal and vertical oscillation, allowing it to move air in multiple directions and help prevent certain areas of a room from becoming stuffy.

Nanoleaf claims the fan can reach wind speeds of up to 6.5 metres per second, with an airflow reach of up to 33 metres. For situations where a little more power is needed, Turbo Mode increases airflow to a claimed 13.51 cubic metres per minute.

The ability to circulate air throughout a room could also make it a useful companion for existing air conditioning systems. Rather than relying entirely on the air conditioner to distribute cool air, the fan can help move that air around more effectively, potentially making temperatures more consistent across the space.

Nanoleaf also points to a few additional uses beyond cooling, including helping indoor laundry dry and reducing stagnant air in enclosed spaces.

Four Modes and Nine Fan Speeds

The Smart Air Circulator Fan offers four operating modes, giving users a choice of airflow depending on the situation.

Normal Mode provides consistent airflow for everyday use, while Turbo Mode delivers stronger circulation when temperatures climb. Natural Mode varies the airflow to create something closer to an outdoor breeze, while Sleep Mode reduces the intensity for a gentler experience overnight. There are also nine adjustable fan speeds, allowing users to fine-tune the airflow rather than being limited to a handful of preset settings.

Noise is another important consideration, particularly for anyone planning to use the fan in a bedroom. Nanoleaf claims the Smart Air Circulator Fan operates at just 21 decibels in Sleep Mode, making it a potentially appealing option for bedrooms, nurseries and home offices where background noise can become distracting.

An integrated warm-white nightlight is also included. It uses a 3000K colour temperature and produces 50 lumens of light, providing a subtle glow for nighttime use without needing another bedside light.

Smart Home Connectivity and App Control

As you'd expect from a Nanoleaf product, smart connectivity is a major part of the package.

The fan supports Bluetooth Low Energy and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connectivity, with integration into the SwitchBot smart home ecosystem. It can also be controlled through the Nanoleaf app, on-device touch controls and an included infrared remote. Matter over Wi-Fi support and voice assistant compatibility are also part of the feature set, giving users additional ways to control the fan through their connected home setup.

Scheduling is supported, allowing the fan to automatically switch on or off at selected times. There's also a delayed shutdown timer of up to 24 hours, which could be particularly useful at bedtime. You can have the fan running while you fall asleep without needing to remember to turn it off later.

The horizontal and vertical oscillation can also be controlled independently, giving users more flexibility over where the airflow is directed.

Cordless Operation With Up to 70 Hours of Battery Life

Perhaps one of the more interesting features is the built-in 3600mAh rechargeable battery. Unlike traditional fans that need to remain plugged into a power outlet, the Nanoleaf Smart Air Circulator Fan can operate wirelessly, making it easier to move between rooms or use in locations where power outlets aren't readily available.

Battery life naturally depends on the selected fan speed, but Nanoleaf quotes up to 70 hours of operation on the lowest setting. That drops to approximately 12 hours on speed five and four hours when running at the highest speed.

Weighing approximately 2.1kg, the fan is also relatively lightweight, making it easier to carry around the house or take along for sheltered camping trips and other outdoor activities.

For times when the battery needs charging or extended operation is required, the fan supports both AC and USB-C power connections.

Compact Design and Energy-Efficient Operation

Nanoleaf has also included a physical filter screen designed to prevent larger airborne debris, including dust and hair, from entering the fan mechanism. It's worth noting that this is intended to protect the fan rather than function as a dedicated air purifier.

Power comes from a 24W brushless DC motor, which should help keep energy consumption relatively modest while providing the airflow needed for everyday use.

Combined with its compact footprint, cordless operation and multiple control options, the fan looks suited to a variety of environments, from apartments and bedrooms through to home offices and smaller commercial spaces.

Final Thoughts

The Nanoleaf Smart Air Circulator Fan brings together a fairly impressive collection of features. Whole-room air circulation, automatic dual-axis oscillation, smart home connectivity and a rechargeable battery give it considerably more flexibility than a basic pedestal fan.

The quoted battery life of up to 70 hours is particularly appealing, although naturally that figure will vary depending on how much airflow you need. The ability to use it alongside air conditioning, move it around the house and control it through an app or voice assistant also adds to its versatility.

Of course, the real test will be how well it performs in everyday use, particularly during the warmer months when Australian homes can become uncomfortable very quickly. Its airflow, noise levels and battery performance will ultimately determine whether it stands out from the growing range of smart fans available.

For now, the Nanoleaf Smart Air Circulator Fan looks like an interesting addition to the smart home market, especially for anyone who wants more flexibility from their cooling setup without being tied to a power outlet.
