PAX Aus 2024 is fast approaching! In Melbourne in October, the event is gearing up to be the most significant Australian gaming showcase ever. On top of the previously announced guests, developers and games, PAX has announced the main-line exhibitors, the large developers and companies appearing to show off their latest creations to fans. Here is a rundown of the exhibitors coming and what they plan to display:
DEVOLVER AND MASSIVE MONSTER
The developer and publisher behind Cult of the Lamb will bring something new to the PAX showcase. It is not a game, but a wedding. Two lovestruck couples will walk down the aisle inside a full-scale replica of Cult of the Lamb Temple. A wedding will surely warm the heartstrings of any gamer and fans of the beloved indie title.
RED BULL GAMEBALL ROYALE
Four teams of Australian creators, comprising of streams and game developers, will go head-to-head in an epic Dodgeball Tournament sponsored by Red Bull. With rule changes to fit the gaming crowd, the court will also have LED lighting. The court will be like a concert stage, and this is an event you will want to attend if you plan to make it to the event.
BETHESDA SOFTWORKS
While Bethesda will not announce any new games, they will be part of an all-mighty escapade likely to please any Fallout and Elder Scrolls fans. Journey to Tamriel from Elder Scrolls Online at the meticulously decorated PAX Pub. Otherwise, you could journey to the Skyline Valley from Fallout 76 and relax in the lounge area inspired by the game. Bethesda will provide those with the utmost luxury and gaming style.
UBISOFT
Unlike Devolver, Massive Monster and Bethesda, Ubisoft will be at PAX to give fans a new sneak peek of the upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows. The game's director, Charles Benoit, will be present to give fans a sneak peek into the game's development and allow fans to play a demo at their designated booth.
The Rainbow Six Siege showcase will take your fancy if you are more of an esports fan. Battle it out on Friday at the PAX Arena and see who emerges victorious.
THE SIMS
With the Life and Death expansion pack coming soon to The Sims 4, gaming fans can take pictures in a Plumbob photo zone and have a tarot card reading from the fan-favourite Grim Reaper. Grim Reaper will be present every day of the event and will be happy to take photos, pose, and reap the souls of anyone who crosses his path.
FINAL FANTASY XIV ONLINE
The popular MMO will be present at PAX Aus this year. Senior Story Designer Natsuko Ishikawa and Quest Designer Saki Takayanagi will host a panel, allowing fans to ask questions about the game and its future. In addition, experienced players can battle against the fearsome Valigarmanda, an Esper who first appeared in Final Fantasy VI and then in Final Fantasy XIV Online. If you are not a seasoned veteran, you can participate in an early primal battle from the game or get your picture taken at the designated photo spot.
BLIZZARD ENTERTAINMENT
With Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred coming out on October 8th, the expansion pack will be a big theme of this showcase. Come and see the artwork of Australian creator JazzaStudios and a life-sized glaive sword inspired by the game. Each day of the event, two lucky attendees will win a special Vessel of Hatred kit that introduces them to the Spirit Guardians and the new Spiritborn class of the game.
PLAYSIDE STUDIOS
PlaySide Studios is Australia's largest video game developer, and I am beyond excited to see them showcase numerous games during this event. Their showcase will feature multiple booths where fans can play demos of their upcoming KILL KNIGHT, Thrive: Heavy Lies the Crown, and Age of Darkness: Final Stand. In addition to those three games, fans can also play a demo of the as-yet-unannounced Dumb Ways to Die sequel.
However, the most exciting part of the PlaySide Studios showcase is the opportunity for fans to play MOUSE: PI for Hire, developed by Fumi Games and published by PlaySide Studios. In my previous PAX gaming article, I said that MOUSE: PI for Hire is one of my most anticipated games of 2025, and it still is. I am so excited to hear from the developers and see fan reactions to the demo.
SEGA
Sega's appearance comes close to the release of Sonic X Shadow Generations, and the company intends to show more of the anticipated remaster. Although I am not a huge Sonic fan, I will freely admit my love for Sonic Generations, and I am excited to see more about this game. Whilst Sonic will be appearing, Sega also plans to show Two Point Museum, a simulation game where you manage a museum, and Metaphor ReFantazio, an RPG developed by Atlus, the geniuses behind Catherine and the Persona series.
STEAM
PAX Aus is thrilled to announce that Steam will venture down under for the first time. There are no scheduled announcements for Steam, but stay tuned during the event to learn more.
