PlayStation Twitter Announcement:
Within 2 hours of the announcement, most retailers like EB Games and JB Hifi were reportedly sold out of Pre-order stock, leaving many PlayStation fans sour over the handling of local pre-ordering.
Some retailer sites crashed during peak customer influx, with several Gaming Australia members reporting EB games, Harvey Norman and other retailers failed to process their orders.
Others retailers were flooded with purchasing-bots and potential scalpers, both looking to buy as many consoles as possible to then on sell at inflated prices across the likes of Ebay, Amazon, and Facebook's Marketplace.
Many unfortunate gamers seeking information on pre-ordering, were met with nothing but a barrage of posts, like this image (left), requesting exorbitant sums for the $749.95 console.
But, there is a light at the end of the tunnel!
