Gaming culture has seen a drastic remodel in the past few years. Many games that endure for years are competitive or have a high replay value and longevity. Games like Call of Duty and Fortnite are prime examples of this. Today, there are not a huge number of games that offer players a casual experience, something that doesn't judge based on your kill count or the amount of hours you have poured into it. Apple Arcade is one of the best services for casual gaming, and Puffies is a wonderfully simple puzzle game that anyone can pick up and play at any time. Lykke Studios has crafted a game centred on solving jigsaw puzzles. It's a very simple game and not one that I see myself playing in the years to come. Nevertheless, during my time with Puffies on Apple Arcade, I had a great time.
As a kid, I always loved jigsaw puzzles. It's a common pastime for many people from their childhood. Puffies on Apple Arcade sees you placing different stickers on a sticker book. The stickers themselves serve as jigsaw puzzle pieces, and you need to put each sticker in its correct position. The gameplay involves examining the shape of the sticker and aligning it with the corners of the sticker book, as well as matching the borders with specific pieces to complement the next piece. This gameplay loop is at the core of what you will be doing in Puffies on Apple Arcade.

Not every sticker book is the same. There are three different difficulty levels as well as six different sticker book sizes. The difficulty levels are Easy, Medium, and Hard, and the sticker book sizes are Extra Small, Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large and Extra Extra Large. On an easier difficulty, the stickers are much bigger, and the edges of the piece are more distinctive, making it easier to place a piece in the correct location. When you reach the harder difficulty, the pieces and edges of the sticker book become much harder to distinguish. The different sticker book sizes dictate both the size of the stickers themselves and the size of the page on which you will place them. In short, Puffies on Apple Arcade has a huge amount of difficulty options, and you can dictate whether you want to play an easier puzzle, a harder puzzle or a larger puzzle.
More sticker books open up to you whenever you complete a full puzzle. Upon completion, you get experience points, which contribute to unlocking various sticker books. In addition to the experience points, Puffies on Apple Arcade also has different score multipliers that can reward you with more experience points. You can get these score multipliers in a variety of different ways, such as solving the entire sticker book without using a hint or completing a daily challenge that changes every day when you play the game. For such a simple game, there is a huge amount of content to play with in Puffies on Apple Arcade.

Puffies on Apple Arcade also features a very relaxing soundtrack. It's very soft and soothing to listen to, especially when you're playing the game with earphones on. I remember playing the game at night when all the lights were out, and the music put my mind at ease, helping me concentrate on the puzzles themselves. The music is very atmospheric, but it never felt distracting whilst I was trying to solve some of the more difficult sticker books.
Puffies on Apple Arcade is a very soothing experience. Still, you are essentially doing the same thing over and over again, and while it is satisfying when you get more accustomed to the game, it becomes too easy. I played the game for a little over three hours, and at the start, the harder sticker books did prove challenging. However, after some time, the harder puzzles did not retain the same level of difficulty. Don't get me wrong, Puffies on Apple Arcade was a fun experience, and I felt a great deal of satisfaction whenever I put all the pieces together in a sticker book. Still, the lack of difficulty in the later stages of the game was disappointing. I wish there were an additional difficulty that made the later sticker books a lot harder, allowing me to put my understanding and knowledge of the game mechanics to the test.
Puffies — Apple Arcade Review: Verdict
Puffies on Apple Arcade is a great casual game for anyone who has a subscription. The puzzles are good fun, the stickers themselves are adorable, and there is a huge amount of content and daily challenges. Additionally, the music provides an extra layer of immersion and relaxation. Sadly, after a few hours, the different difficulty levels all blended, and the game felt too easy. Despite this, I do still recommend Puffies for anyone with an Apple Arcade subscription.
