Thanks to our friends at JBL for giving us a pair to review!
Over a year ago, I reviewed JBL's Quantum TWS Earbuds - which I rated quite highly. Most notably for it's crisp, immersive audio that plunges you right into the world of the game you're playing. I'm someone who much prefers Headsets over Earbuds any day, so jumping between the two was an interesting contrast for me.
I went into this review with that prior information in mind, and to say outright, I wasn't disappointed with this wired JBL Quantum 100X Console Headset. A few things I had to note when reviewing of course, but otherwise I had a mostly positive experience with it.
Before I dive into this review, I just want to apologise that this review is a little later than expected - it's been a hectic time in my life, so thank you for your patience on this one.

Headset Compatibility
The Quantum 100X Console Headset is compatible with PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, Mac and VR. I tested it out with what I had on hand, and here's what I found;
PlayStation 5 - Instant connection with zero issues - this was the first platform I tried it out on, so off to a good start and flicking between multiplayer titles and single player titles
Xbox Series X - While the PlayStation 5 provided crisp clean audio with no connection issues, the second platform I tried the headset with was disappointing. At first, it was difficult to connect the headset at times with the standard XSX controller I was using. It would either not be detected as a device and wouldn't work at all, or it would work for a short period of time, but then randomly cut off. After it would randomly get cut off, I tried a few things including resetting my console, turning my controller on and off again, pretending it didn't bother me that it wasn't working (y'know what I mean) but nothing I did seemed to make it work properly. This was a frustrating thing, particularly as someone who really enjoyed JBL's previous products. However, when I tried it with my new XSX Elite Controller Series 2 Core, it then worked seamlessly with no further connection issues (Luckily I made that purchase when I was reviewing this headset!) With all that being said though, I can't say for certain if what I experienced was an isolated issue with my standard XSX controller, or if it's something that does happen with standard XSX Controllers.
PC - Instant Connection with zero issues
Nintendo Switch (handheld) - Instant Connection with zero issues
Mobile (Samsung Galaxy S9) - Instant Connection with zero issues, and surprisingly it still sounded pretty good even on my phone
Here's a few games I played and tested it with (some titles I played start to finish with the headset on the whole time, and some just a bit to get a bit of variety with sound)
EA Sports FC 24
Call of Duty Modern Warfare II
Fall Guys
Halo: Master Chief Collection
Alan Wake II
Soma
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
Barton Lynch Pro Surfing
God of War: Ragnarok
Fears to Fathom: Carson House
Midnight Scenes: The Highway
Bahnsen Knights
Rollerdrome
Whether it was to become immersed in a game and forget about the world for a little while, or just chatting with friends on a multiplayer title, this headset worked perfectly, for me, in any gaming situation. For me, I game in an isolated room as it is, so there wasn't too much volume adjusting I had to do.
When it comes to something such as noise control specifically, I didn't find any noises in my household distracting with this headset on. Of course, this will vary in each household and depending on your style of gaming. As I mentioned above, I game in a more isolated section of my house (my room) so I don't have too much noise or distraction as it is, so noise control features for me wasn't too much of a feature that I was missing strongly.
One of the biggest aspects I was most curious about though, was the compatibility. I'm thrilled that this headset is compatible with multiple platforms. As someone who jumps around console to console, particularly between Xbox and PlayStation, it's nice not to constantly switch headsets around, and it's nice to keep it consistent.
Snapshot Pros, Cons & Mixed
Pros
Crisp audio
Multi-Platform compatible
Simple to plug in and use
Light weight
Memory foam works well
Budget friendly
Cons
Technical difficulties with XSX standard controller connection
Mixed
Detachable Mic can feel a little awkward taking out - it almost feels like it's going to snap
Can sound a little on the lower side at times
Overall
The JBL Quantum 100X Console Headset delivers in crisp audio sound across various platforms. It's great if you're looking for something that's still good quality, but doesn't break your budget. If you're looking for a headset with more features, such as higher quality noise control, you'll have to look at the higher price tagged headsets. I highly recommend these if you're someone like me who does jump between multiple platforms, and are just looking for a basic, good quality headset for general gaming. If that's the case for you, then look no further than the JBL Quantum 100X Console Headset.
Thanks again to our friends at JBL for supplying us with this headset for review
Just picked up the JBL Quantum 100X and I gotta say, the sound is fantastic! Especially for the price, it's way better than my old headset. Plus, it works on everything - PlayStation, Xbox, even my phone!
The only weird thing was the connection with my Xbox controller at first. It kept cutting out, but then I realized it worked fine with my new Elite controller. Maybe it's just an older controller thing? Anyway, overall I'm really happy with it, especially for casual gaming. Although, if I was a hardcore multiplayer guy, I might want something with a bit more noise cancellation like maybe the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX at Gamory.
